Sara Lew is a singer, songwriter and guitarist, where she often retunes her guitar and finds new sounds and chords within a hybrid of alternative rock - songwriter - indie, jazz and impro. The guitar and the song are her refuge throughout life, a special space where she goes and finds peace, cohesion and belonging. In this way, music has become her life witness.
Sara Lew finds her inner space, where the music is rooted in the soul, where creation comes from. She is delicate, fragile and at the same time contains a strong raw energy. The audience is taken on a journey through the lived life and can be reflected in the story of touch, vulnerability and wildness.
The listener witnesses something deep and important, something personal and universal and comes into contact with a musical space where there is room to get out into all the nooks and crannies.
"...dreamy but affecting songwriting delivered with no small degree of style." Clash Magazin
"... Sara Lew sprænger rammer, får bånd til at briste og lægger comfort zone behind. " GAFFA.DK
“Lew’s work reaches a new depth in this record, embodying a raw energy that balances delicate vulnerability with a fierce primal force …”LOUD immerses listeners in a world of evocative contrasts.” ASBO mag.
New album LOUD on nov the 8th 2024.
A delicate and, at the same time, powerful energy is the overall signature of the album, which is a result of the meeting between the life lived in recent years and the musical primordial power that characterizes the universe of the Danish indie artist.
The album represents Sara Lew's characteristic style, but at the same time has new delicate threads which move into the atmospheric, where bare acoustic guitar gives way to vocals and lyrics.
Born to an English mother and Danish father and raised in Roskilde, Sara Lew is aka Sara Lewis Sørensen is now living in Copenhagen. Sara is an electric guitarist, educated at the rhythmic Music conservatorium in Copenhagen. Throughout her career, Sara has continuously developed her within jazz and improvisational music, alternative rock and as an indie-folk-rock musician in a large number of constellations and now stands as a strong lead, on both guitar and vocals on “LOUD”.
Press highlites on new album Loud
Alt for Damerne:
"Det er både smukt, melankolsk, hyggeligt og sørgmodigt. også lægger det op til eftertænksomhed. ... Det hele er tilsat Sara Lew's inderlige, rolige stemme der elegant favner både de dybe bløde toner og de høje af slagsen. Titelnummeret, 'LOUD', har en særlig skævhed, som går rent hjem hos mig".
Wonderland Magazine:
"...The video opens with a delicate instrumental arrangement, offering a haunting, cinematic glimpse into Sara Lew’s visionary artistry. As the visuals unfold, layers of resonant percussion, shimmering guitar strings, and gentle, melancholic piano notes meld with Sara’s rich vocal textures. Her vocal range is both expansive and nuanced, underscoring her deeply evocative, multifaceted approach to music..."
Spill Magazine:
"The album title just might be a bit deceiving, as Lew’s jazzy guitar overtones go some more atmospheric places, than it might suggest. Her classical and jazz musical background is all over the place here, but Lew puts them firmly in place of her dream-pop songs that range anywhere between Mazzy Star and mellower side of Björk. It is a heady combination that can easily go awry in the hands and voice of somebody that is not inventive or able enough to handle it, but Lew seems to have both inventiveness and ability to do so. Lew also handles both the arrangements and production here, and backed only by Anders Filipsen (keyboard/synth) and Jeppe Gram (drums), shows us that we are in a presence of an intriguing musical talent."
ASBO Magazin:

First Single “You Said”, had a fine Premier on CLASH Magazine: “A string of infectious, artful singles have stamped out her pop identity, dreamy but affecting songwriting delivered with no small degree of style. ‘You Said’ is a beautiful return, matching interlocking guitar lines – think Galaxie 500, for example – with her half-sighed vocals.”
